Your Best Heart

What are the most important keys to a Healthy Heart?

1) Low Stress. Don’t get me wrong some stress is fine. It helps you perform and take action but if you get to the point of Chronic Stress this can become a Major Problem. I really can’t believe how many people underestimate the power of stress hormones on the body. Most people who have conditioned themselves to get Stressed out feel overwhelmed and victimized by the way they feel. They believe there is no other way and don’t make themselves accountable for their own thoughts. The Limbic System or the Emotional part of the Brain is in charge of getting Oxygen and Blood to the Muscles. When you get stress those vessels constrict and the vital nourishment can not get to those muscles as easily. So you see what you are thinking throughout the day in the privacy of your own mind correlates how you physically feel. This is why most pains are Emotional because they are caused by YOUR OWN STRESSFUL THOUGHTS! How do you change your thoughts? When you become AWARE that Your thoughts are POWERFUL and release hurtful hormones (Chemical Messengers) in the body then You can become a responsible thinker. Positivity is so much stronger than negativity so the more Positive you think the easier it will be!?

Supplements that help calm your Brain are 5-HTP, Coromega, L-Theanine, you can get these at www.vitacost.com 5-HTP and L-Theanine under NSI products. All supplements have been well researched and pose no side effects and I have been taking them myself with positive effects.?

Benefits of Aerobic Exercise

Good Morning all! This will be short since I have to go to feel the benefits of working out! Let’s talk about the benefits of Aerobic Exercise:

  1. Creates capillary density. This means that the more you jog/walk uphill etc. the more blood vessels
are created. This is so important because capillaries are the means to getting blood and nourishment to your tissues. The more blood you can get to your tissues the less spasms and lactic acid build up you will have in the tissues. This will create a more youthful You!
  2. Creates Mitochondrial Density. These are your little oil refineries. They are also called “cellular power plants”. This is because they turn substance from food into ATP or energy. You need Aerobic respiration to create Mitochondria so Running really helps facilitate this. A great result from Mitochondrial Density is that it may SLOW DOWN AGING!
  3. If you do Anaerobic Training first (weights, intervals, hills) and Aerobic Training (jogging, swimming) last you can shut off your Hunger Center in the Brain and not be a ravenous creature later on in the day.
  4. Drops fat off the body fast. However to Maximize this benefit it is a good thing to weight train at the same time so you keep your muscle.
  5. Keeps your arteries clear by raising good cholesterol and reducing bad cholesterol.
  6. Strengthens the heart. When you run you are training your whole cardiovascular system and your heart has to work less at rest because you increase the volume of blood you can pump out into the body.
  7. You will have less pain because it releases lactic acid along w/ other toxins out of the Muscles.

Diet and Inflammation

How does food cause inflammation? Refined sugar and other food with High Glycemic value jack up insulin and put the immune system on high alert. So when you have that cake or beer or piece of white bread you are conditioning your Pancreas to shoot out insulin to balance your Blood Sugar. Over time the cumulative effect of banging your Pancreas puts your immune system out of balance. Trans Fats also trigger an immune response so Fried baked goodies and margarine should be kept to a bare minimum or better yet tossed out.
If you are going to take away one thing in your diet the #1 thing would be High Fructose Corn Syrup! This is prevalent in many types of food and drink. For one thing they just found MERCURY in HALF of all commercial product they studied. This included Smucker’s (oooh its sooo good!) Hershey, Kraft and Quaker. HFCS also contain GMO corn which can cause an allegic reaction w/ kids and corn in the future. They have even linked it to Obesity, Cancer and Type II Diabetes.

I implore everyone to really become active in checking in your Food labels for HFCS along w/ Partially Hydrogenated Anything which also causes a inflammation response. Any food that can sit there on the shelf for months is not going to be good for you. For instance Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil is really one molecule away from being Plastic. What they do to this oil is they heat it up to 1000 degrees and inject Nikel into it. This substance is in everything from Cake mixes, frostings, crackers, peanut butter (except fresh ground), french fries (cut and bake your own), fish sticks, waffles, microwave popcorn (get organic popcorn from the bulk bin and pop your own, way cheaper and better)
Please do not feed your kids junk, they might protest for a while but they will form a new habit and really start to like Fruits and veges. If you still have a problem w/ your kids not eating Whole Foods then this book will help:”The Sneaky Chef: Simple Strategies for Hiding Healthy Foods in Kids’ Favorite Meals.”

The more you stray away from boxed food the better you will feel. Your Pancreas will be back to normal and not inflamed which YOU can not feel. If you have to have that piece of cake have it once in a while. Moderation is the key to good health. Hopefully you have learned something you did not know here. The more you think about what you are putting in your body the healthier you will feel. IT takes a while but your pain will subside and your energy will be back. These Companies are worried about their bottom line NOT YOURS! Whole Foods does a Body Good, pass it on!

Lower Back Pain

Okay, so let’s tackle a big problem. Lower Back pain is one of the most evasive and mysterious pains in modern day medicine. There are so many different possibilities that most Doctors will give you pain Meds and hope you go away. I have been researching this topic since I was injured. Lower Back Pain has been my enemy now for 21 years. However I have not been feeling any pain since I have been getting my Core stronger. Don’t get me wrong there is a twinge every now and again but the back going out is a distant memory. The twinge usually signals to me that I am dehydrated.

There is a four prong approach and the protocol is as follows:

  1. Strengthen your Hamstrings (Exercises)
  2. Relax and loosen your Quads (stretching)
  3. Strengthen your Core (Exercises)
  4. Relax and loosen your Lower Back Muscles (Erectors and Quadratus Lumborum and Gluts) Massage and Stretching

Here are the exercises:

  • Hamstrings: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/exercises.php?MainMuscle=Hamstrings
(Hint- Lunges can be performed w/o weight until you get your strength up)
  • Core: http://exercise.about.com/cs/abs/l/bl_core.htm
(Hint – Research Core Planks, Easy to do w/ great results, do core exercises up to 5 days a week)

With Exercise Consistency is the key. At least 3 times a week. W/ Core exercises all you need is 10 minutes so NO EXCUSES! It takes 6-8 weeks for your Brain to get back into balance w/ these new movements (Neurological Adaptation) then you start adding muscle at 2-4 months, then from 6 months- 2 years you strengthen bone! There are so many reasons to consistently exercise it will blow your mind! I will talk about this specifically in the coming weeks!

This could be one piece of the pain puzzle. By following these guidelines you can first check to see if this is your problem. If it is you are lucky because for one there is no need for medication and two, It’s FREE!

Next entry, I will dive into how your Diet effects Inflammation in your body.
